BLU-Space & MyDefence - New partnership for even more security in U-Space
The increasing integration of drones into the airspace places high demands on safe and efficient traffic management. Particularly in critical infrastructure areas such as the Port of Hamburg, where numerous players and complex logistical processes come together, an accurate aerial picture of the situation is essential. A particular challenge is dealing with uncooperative drones, i.e. those that do not comply with the applicable regulations and do not transmit regular identification signals. As this aspect is not regulated in detail in the current U-Space regulation, this opens up an important area of research and development for BLU-Space.
To address this challenge, MyDefence joins the BLU-Space project as an associated partner. The company specializes in the detection of drones in complex infrastructures based on Radio Frequency (RF) and Remote ID technologies. Within the BLU-Space project, MyDefence contributes to the research and testing of these technologies in order to verify their effectiveness in real-life scenarios. This involves not only the identification of uncooperative drones, but also the seamless integration and processing of the data obtained in the BLU-Space system. Thanks to a digital and standardized integration approach, MyDefence's technology can be optimally integrated into the architecture of the project and the existing traffic management system.
This partnership will enable the project partners to create an even more comprehensive picture of the air situation in the future and gain important insights for the safe operation of UAS in complex urban infrastructure environments such as the Port of Hamburg. At the same time, the collaboration will provide important impetus for regulatory developments to more clearly define the handling of uncooperative drones in U-Space.
